About Twake
Twake is an open-source workplace collaboration platform that bundles team messaging, task management, file storage, calendar, and video conferencing into a single application. It is developed by Linagora, a French open-source software company, and positions itself as a self-hosted alternative to Microsoft Teams or Google Workspace for organisations that need data sovereignty or want to avoid vendor lock-in.
The platform supports channels for team messaging, threaded conversations, file sharing with version history, a Kanban-style task board, shared calendars, and Jitsi-based video conferencing. Because it is open-source and self-hostable, organisations can run Twake on their own servers or in a private cloud environment, keeping all data within their own infrastructure. This makes it relevant for government agencies, healthcare organisations, and businesses with strict data residency requirements.
Twake’s API allows it to be connected to external systems for notifications and data exchange. Using n8n, you can post automated messages to Twake channels when events occur in your other business tools (CRM updates, deployment alerts, support ticket escalations). For Australian organisations looking to move off proprietary platforms while keeping their collaboration tools connected to the rest of their stack, our system integration services can handle the migration and integration work.

How it works
We work hand-in-hand with you to implement Twake
As Twake consultants we work with you hand in hand build more efficient and effective operations. Here’s how we will work with you to automate your business and integrate Twake with integrate and automate 800+ tools.
Step 1
Deploy Twake on Your Infrastructure
Set up Twake using Docker Compose on your server or cloud VM. Follow the official Twake installation guide to configure the required services (backend, frontend, database, and Jitsi for video). Set up a reverse proxy (Nginx or Traefik) with SSL for secure access. Verify the application loads and you can create an admin account.
Step 2
Create Workspaces and Channels
Set up your workspace structure based on your team or project organisation. Create channels for departments, projects, or topics. Configure channel permissions to control who can post and who can only read. Set up the general channels that will serve as the main communication hubs for your organisation.
Step 3
Migrate Users and Data
Invite your team members and configure user accounts. If migrating from another platform (Slack, Teams), export your message history and key files. While Twake does not have a one-click import from other platforms, you can use the API to bulk-import critical reference material into the appropriate channels and Drive folders.
Step 4
Set Up Automated Notifications via n8n
Use Twake’s API to post messages to channels from n8n workflows. Create an API token in Twake’s admin settings. In n8n, add HTTP Request nodes that POST to the Twake API when events occur in your other tools, such as new support tickets, deployment completions, or CRM deal stage changes.
Step 5
Configure Task Boards and Calendar
Set up Twake’s built-in task boards for project tracking within your channels. Create task categories and assign team members. Configure the shared calendar for team meetings and deadlines. Connect the calendar to external calendars (Google Calendar, Outlook) if needed using CalDAV or API synchronisation.
Step 6
Establish Usage Guidelines and Monitor Adoption
Document how your organisation will use Twake: when to create a new channel versus post in an existing one, how to use threads, and where to store files. Monitor adoption over the first month and gather feedback from team members. Address any pain points around notification settings, mobile app performance, or missing integrations.
