Step 1

Generate Zendesk API Credentials

In your Zendesk admin panel, go to Apps and Integrations > APIs > Zendesk API and enable Token Access. Generate a new API token and note the email address of the agent account you will use. You will need the subdomain (your-company.zendesk.com), email, and token to configure n8n.

Step 2

Configure n8n Zendesk Credential

In n8n, create a new Zendesk credential and enter your subdomain, agent email, and API token. Test the credential by adding a Zendesk node and listing recent tickets. If the connection succeeds and returns ticket data, your credential is configured correctly.

Step 3

Set Up Zendesk Webhooks

In Zendesk, go to Business Rules > Triggers and create triggers for the events you want to automate. Configure each trigger to send an HTTP POST to your n8n Webhook node URL, including the relevant ticket data as JSON in the payload. Test the trigger by creating a sample ticket that matches the conditions.

Build Your Ticket Automation Workflow

Create an n8n workflow starting with a Webhook node to receive Zendesk events.
