About AWS S3
AWS S3 (Simple Storage Service) is Amazon’s cloud object storage, designed to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere. Unlike a traditional file system with folders and drives, S3 stores data as objects in flat-namespace buckets, each object identified by a unique key. It is built for durability (99.999999999% — eleven nines) and scales automatically without capacity planning.
The problem S3 solves is reliable, scalable file storage without managing servers. Businesses use it for backup and archival, hosting static website assets, storing documents and media files, feeding data into analytics pipelines, and as a staging area for data that moves between systems. S3’s lifecycle policies can automatically move older data to cheaper storage tiers (S3 Glacier, Deep Archive) to control costs.
In n8n automation workflows, the AWS S3 node lets you upload, download, list, copy, and delete objects in S3 buckets. Common patterns include archiving processed documents, storing generated reports for later retrieval, feeding files into AI processing pipelines, and syncing files between S3 and other storage systems. S3 event notifications can also trigger n8n workflows when new files arrive.
Osher uses S3 in automated data processing projects where files need to flow between systems reliably. We also connect S3 to AI agent workflows that process documents, images, or other unstructured data stored in buckets.

How it works
We work hand-in-hand with you to implement AWS S3
As AWS S3 consultants we work with you hand in hand build more efficient and effective operations. Here’s how we will work with you to automate your business and integrate AWS S3 with integrate and automate 800+ tools.
Step 1
Process Audit
We review your current file storage and data handling — where files live now, how they move between systems, what security and compliance requirements apply, and where manual file handling is creating bottlenecks. We identify which files should be in S3, what access patterns look like (frequent vs. archival), and how file storage connects to your broader workflows.
Step 2
Identify Automation Opportunities
Based on the audit, we identify file workflows to automate: incoming document processing, report storage and distribution, backup and archival of application data, file synchronisation between systems, and data staging for analytics or AI processing. Each opportunity is assessed for volume, security requirements, and integration complexity.
Step 3
Design Workflows
We design the S3 bucket structure (naming conventions, folder key prefixes), IAM policies with least-privilege access, lifecycle rules for storage tier transitions, encryption settings, and n8n workflow logic for file operations. Event notification patterns are designed for workflows that need to react to new file arrivals.
Step 4
Implementation
We create S3 buckets with the designed configuration, set up IAM users and policies for n8n access, configure lifecycle rules and encryption, build n8n workflows for file upload/download/processing, and set up event notifications if workflows need to trigger on new files. Existing files are migrated to the new bucket structure if needed.
Step 5
Quality Assurance Review
We test file upload and download operations, verify IAM permissions enforce least-privilege access, confirm lifecycle rules transition objects correctly, test event-triggered workflows with real files, and validate encryption settings. Edge cases like large files, special characters in filenames, and concurrent access are tested.
Step 6
Support and Maintenance
Ongoing support includes monitoring storage costs and usage patterns, adjusting lifecycle rules as access patterns change, rotating IAM credentials, updating n8n workflows when bucket structures evolve, and reviewing access logs for security. We also optimise costs by identifying data that should move to cheaper storage tiers.
