Brevo Trigger

About Brevo Trigger

Brevo Trigger lets you fire n8n workflows automatically whenever specific events occur in your Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) account. Instead of manually checking for new contacts, unsubscribes, or email interactions, this trigger node listens for those events in real time and kicks off whatever automation you need — whether that’s updating a CRM, sending a follow-up message, or alerting your sales team.

For marketing teams, Brevo Trigger is the bridge between your email campaigns and the rest of your tech stack. When a lead opens a key email or clicks through to your pricing page, you can instantly route that signal to your sales automation workflows. When someone unsubscribes, you can trigger a data cleanup across connected platforms. It turns Brevo from a standalone email tool into a real-time event source for your entire business.

We’ve helped several clients connect Brevo with their broader automation infrastructure using n8n. The trigger node is particularly powerful when combined with conditional logic — for example, routing high-intent email interactions to a sales team Slack channel while logging everything else to a tracking spreadsheet. If you’re already using Brevo for email marketing, this node unlocks the ability to act on subscriber behaviour the moment it happens, rather than reviewing reports hours later.

How it works

We work hand-in-hand with you to implement Brevo Trigger

Step 1

Set Up Brevo API Credentials

Log into your Brevo account and generate an API key from the SMTP & API section. In n8n, create a new Brevo credential entry and paste your API key so n8n can authenticate with your account.

Step 2

Add the Brevo Trigger Node

In your n8n workflow editor, add a Brevo Trigger node as the starting point. This node will listen for incoming webhook events from Brevo and start your workflow each time a matching event arrives.

Step 3

Configure Event Types

Select which Brevo events should trigger the workflow. Common choices include email opened, link clicked, contact added, and unsubscribe. Choose only the events relevant to your use case to keep your workflow focused.

Step 4

Register the Webhook in Brevo

Copy the webhook URL generated by n8n and add it to your Brevo account’s webhook settings. This tells Brevo where to send event notifications. Make sure your n8n instance is publicly accessible for Brevo to reach it.

Step 5

Build Your Response Logic

Add downstream nodes to handle the incoming event data. This might include updating a Google Sheet, sending a Slack notification, creating a CRM record, or triggering a follow-up email sequence based on the event type.

Step 6

Test and Activate

Use Brevo’s test webhook feature or trigger a real event to confirm data flows through correctly. Check that your workflow processes the payload as expected, then activate the workflow for production use.
