Implementing Webflow

Step 1

Generate a Webflow API Token

In your Webflow workspace settings, go to Integrations and generate a new API token. For CMS operations, ensure the token has CMS read and write permissions. For site publishing, add site publish permissions. Copy the token securely.

Step 2

Add Webflow Credentials in n8n

In n8n, navigate to Credentials and add a new Webflow API credential. Paste your API token and test the connection. If you are using Webflow's OAuth2 authentication instead, follow the OAuth flow to authorise n8n access to your workspace.

Step 3

Identify Your Collection IDs

Open your Webflow CMS and note the collections you want to automate (blog posts, products, team members, etc.). The Webflow node in n8n will list available sites and collections once your credentials are connected, so you can select them from dropdowns.

Step 4

Build Your Data Source Workflow

Add nodes to fetch your source data — this might be an Airtable node pulling approved content, a Google Sheets node with product information, a webhook receiving data from another system, or a database query returning records that need to be published.

Step 5

Configure the Webflow Node

Add the Webflow node and select your site and collection. Choose create, update, or upsert as the operation. Map your source data fields to the corresponding Webflow collection fields using n8n expressions. Make sure required fields are all mapped.

Step 6

Test, Publish, and Monitor

Run the workflow with a single test item to verify the CMS item is created correctly in Webflow. Check all fields including rich text, images, and references. Once confirmed, process the full batch, trigger a site publish, and monitor the Webflow dashboard to verify all content is live.
