What you can automate with Copper

Copper is a CRM built specifically for Google Workspace users, and the n8n Copper node lets you automate your sales and relationship management processes by connecting Copper to the rest of your business tools. You can create and update contacts, companies, deals, and activities programmatically — turning manual CRM data entry into automated workflows that keep your sales pipeline accurate without constant human intervention. The sweet spot for Copper automation is in reducing the administrative burden on sales teams. Every time a new lead comes in from a web form, a deal progresses, or a customer interaction happens in another system, n8n can automatically update Copper to reflect the change. This means your sales team spends less time entering data and more time actually selling. It also means your CRM data is more reliable, because it’s being updated in real time by systems rather than depending on busy salespeople remembering to log activities. At Osher, we’ve helped sales-driven businesses build sales automation workflows that keep Copper synchronised with email marketing platforms, support desks, invoicing systems, and custom internal tools. One pattern we see frequently is lead enrichment — when a new contact is created in Copper, an n8n workflow automatically pulls in company data, social profiles, and recent news, giving the sales rep a complete picture without any manual research. If your team uses Copper and Google Workspace, connecting it to n8n through this node unlocks a significant productivity gain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how Copper consultants can help with integration and implementation

The Copper node lets you create, read, update, and delete records across Copper's main objects: people (contacts), companies, opportunities (deals), tasks, and activities. You can also search for records and manage relationships between them programmatically.

How it works

We work hand-in-hand with you to implement Copper

Here’s how we take Copper from installed to actually automating your work, alongside the 800+ tools we integrate.

Step 1

Get Your Copper API Key

In Copper, go to Settings > Integrations and generate an API key. You'll also need the email address associated with your Copper account. Both are required to authenticate the n8n Copper node.

Step 2

Add the Copper Node to n8n

In the n8n editor, add a Copper node and create a new credential entry with your API key and email. Test the connection to confirm n8n can communicate with your Copper account successfully.

Step 3

Select the Resource and Operation

Choose which Copper object to work with — people, companies, opportunities, tasks, or activities — and select the operation: create, update, get, get all, or delete. Each combination targets a specific CRM action.

Step 4

Map Data Fields

Connect the Copper node to your data source and map the incoming fields to Copper's record structure. For new contacts, map name, email, phone, and company. For deals, map the pipeline stage, value, and associated contacts.

Step 5

Add Deduplication Logic

Before creating new records, add a search step to check if the contact or company already exists in Copper. Use an IF node to decide whether to create a new record or update the existing one — this prevents duplicate entries in your CRM.

Step 6

Test and Validate

Run the workflow with test data and verify the records appear correctly in Copper. Check that all fields are mapped properly, relationships between records are maintained, and any notifications or follow-up actions trigger as expected.
